Hi, I'm Kate Williamson.

I'm an Australian artist living and creating on Yuwibara Country in Mackay, Queensland.

Art has always been part of me. As a little girl, I would spend hours lost in drawing, dreaming, and creating. Like many creative pursuits, it was tucked away as life moved forward. I didn't pick up a paintbrush again until 2022, and when I did, something in me came home.

Through layers of oil paint, I explore the space between what is seen and what is felt. Quiet forests, foggy mornings, weathered botanicals, and the hush of solitude all find their way into my work. My paintings lean into the moody and melancholic, not as an expression of sadness, but as a celebration of stillness, memory, and connection.

Inspired by the Australian landscape, emotion, and the stories held within ordinary moments, I create original oil paintings, miniatures, and graphite portraits that invite viewers to pause and reflect.

While oils have my heart, I'm always inspired to explore. I also enjoy working with mixed media, acrylics, inks, clay sculpting, and sgraffito, embracing the unique textures, stories, and possibilities each medium brings to my creative practice.

I believe art is a language of the soul. My hope is that my work speaks to yours.
